Vacuum Forming (Thermoforming) is a plastic processing method wherein flat sheet material is converted into a three-dimensional shape by applying heat and vacuum (or pressure). All thermoforming falls into tow categories: male or female. Virtually all thermoplastic materials can be thermoformed. The main advantages in the process are...
Lower Tooling cost
Quicker Tooling turn-around time
Cost effective production runs
Easy material thickness changes
THERMOFORMING
Typically, when vacuum forming (thermoforming) thin gauge of material, inline machines are used. Here heating, forming & trimming (or sheet separation) are all done inline with material being transported using a spiky chains.
The machine process is microprocessor controlled and changes to the setting can be readily adjusted to suit varying requirements.
RIDAT manufactures a wide range of machines to suit varying mould sizes and degree of automation.
