Pressure
Forming is a plastic processing method in which air is blown into the softened
material for it to be co converted into a three-dimensional shape. The material
is reel fed under a multi-zone heater into the forming tool where it is formed
and trimmed (usually in-situ). The finished
products are cleared from the tool by air-blast, and the skeletal waste wound
onto a rewind unit. All these operations are automatic. Suitable products can
be automatically stacked.
The
main advantages of pressure forming are improved part detail and surface finish;
in mould texturing and more consistent repeatability.
